ENSEMBLE: Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (Zlin, CZ)

Established in 1945 as the Symphony Orchestra of Bata National Enterprise, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra has worked with a number of distinguished conductors. The repertoire of the orchestra includes a wide range of symphonic works of different periods and a considerable number of contemporary compositions. Cooperation with radio and television stations, recording projects, and international tours have become a regular part of the orchestra’s work.

DESCRIPTION:

This 4-day intensive festival features outstanding faculty, a great orchestra, a final concert in a castle, and takes place in the charming UNESCO-preserved city of Kromeriz. The course includes:

  • Includes a tour of the famed Archbishop's Palace and Gardens (seen in the 1984 Academy Award-winning best picture Amadeus)

ANDREW COOPERSTOCK

 

Pianist Andrew Cooperstock performs widely as soloist and chamber musician and has appeared throughout six continents and in most of the fifty states, including performances at New York's Alice Tully, Merkin, and Carnegie halls, Broadway’s 54 Below, Greenwich Village’s (le) Poisson Rouge, Brooklyn’s BargeMusic, and at the United Nations.  He has been featured in recitals and concerto appearances at the Chautauqua, Brevard, and Round Top international music festivals, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Hong Kong’s Hell Hot! New Music Festival, and in London, Beijing, Accra, Kiev, Sapporo, Canberra, Lima, and Geneva, on National Public Radio, Radio France, and the BBC. Click here to learn more.

William Terwilliger

 

Violinist William Terwilliger has enjoyed an exceptionally active and diverse career as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and teacher. As soloist with orchestra, Mr. Terwilliger has performed with orchestras on five continents, including the National Orchestra of Bolivia (La Paz), the Orchèstre des Alpes Maritimes (Nice, France), the Nanning Festival Orchestra (China), the National Orchestra of Ghana (Accra), the Toledo Symphony, the Boulder Chamber Orchestra (Colorado), the South Carolina Philharmonic and the Long Bay Symphony. Currently concertmaster of the Long Bay Symphony in South Carolina, he has also performed with the Rochester Philharmonic and the Brevard Music Center Festival Orchestra, and served as concertmaster of the Boulder (Colorado) Bach Festival Orchestra. TUITION AND LODGING

 

  • Tuition: $1,990 (US) includes:
  • All classes, rehearsals, lessons, and appearance in final concert performing one movement of a standard repertoire concerto
  • Hotel/Pension (private room), including breakfast (for 4 nights)
  • Students may bring guests for an additional fee

 

Hotels (called pensions), are equivalent of 3-star private hotels. All accommodations are walking distance from the rehearsal and classroom venues, and include breakfast.
